An oncologist at Pauls Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital is among those infected with the Covid-19 coronavirus, Latvian Television reported last night.

The hospital's board chairman Rinalds Muciņš confirmed that a hospital oncologist has been infected with the virus, and is currently in self-quarantine.

The hospital is currently working to determine with whom the medic has been in contact among both patients and hospital staff. At the moment, 12 patients and 20 medical staff have been identified and been ordered to self-quarantine. None of the contact persons have so far complained about any symptoms of coronavirus.

A total of seven medics have been diagnosed with Covid-19 in Latvia so far - three Rezekne Hospital staff, three dentists and one oncologist.
