Twenty Covid deaths Wednesday in Latvia

On March 16, 2022, Latvia recorded 5,138 new cases of Covid-19, according to the latest figures from the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC).

Of the newly-confirmed cases, 1,604 cases were recorded in unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated people, while 3,534 were fully vaccinated.

Out of 12,413 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 41.4% were positive. The 14-day cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 of the population declined from 4,650 Tuesday to 4,363 Wednesday. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 755,821 Covid-19 cases have now been recorded among Latvia's 1.9 million population.

Twenty Covid-related deaths were also confirmed. All of the victims were aged over 50 years. Six were fully vaccinated. The total death toll since the beginning of the pandemic stands at 5,455.

Tuesday hospital data from the National Health Service show 1,094  patients being treated in hospitals (down on 1,127 Monday). 148 patients were admitted and 156 were discharged during the previous 24 hours. 44 patients are displaying serious symptoms.

If you have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, or you have fully recovered from a confirmed case of it, you can obtain a digital certificate attesting to your status at the website https://covid19sertifikats.lv.
