Two cases of COVID-19 registered in Latvia on Sunday

Just two new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Latvia on August 9, with the total number since the start of the pandemic rising to 1,290 on Sunday.

No deaths were recorded, with the fatality toll standing at 32.

The Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC) said 1,597 tests had been conducted during the previous 24-hour period. 

In total 213,534 tests have been carried out since February 29.

So far 1,070 patients have recovered from infection.

Seven patients are in hospital, all described as having moderate symptoms of the disease.

 

SPKC added that one of the new cases was an arrival from the United Kingdom and the other was linked to a cluster outbreak at Murjāni sports school.

The number for medical emergencies is 113, the number for enquiring about a COVID-19 test if you have developed some potential symptoms after returning from overseas or being in contact with someone confirmed as having coronavirus is 8303 and the SPKC COVID-19 advice helpline is 67387661.
