Vaccination of teenagers aged 12 to 15 in Latvia will begin Wednesday, June 2, according to Health Ministry and health authorities' information presented at a press conference June 1.

Last Friday, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) approved the safe use of Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine for children aged 12 to 15. This vaccine was so far used for people aged 16 and over.

As of June 2, the vaccination process will begin in Latvia.

If the child is 12-13 years old, their parent or legal guardian must sign them up either by phone 8989 or with their family doctor. The parent or legal guardian must be present when vaccination is carried out and must have their own and their child's passport or ID card, as well as a document proving relation to the child (an entry in the passport or birth certificate).

If the child is aged 14 and over, they do not require their parents' or legal guardians' permission to vaccinate. These teenagers can sign up either on manavakcina.lv, by phone 8989 or with their family doctor. Presence of parents is not required during vaccination process. The person must have their passport or ID with them.
