Vaccination organization is still done manually in Latvia

Take note – story published 3 years ago

There is still no proper information technology (IT) solution to the vaccination queue system, Eva Juhņēviča, head of the Vaccination Project Bureau, told Latvian Radio April 8.

Juhņēviča said that the formation of the single queue from all people who have applied either on manavakcina.lv or 8989 is currently being carried out manually. Time and place of vaccination is also being determined manually, which makes the process slow from an organizational point of view.

The forthcoming IT system would greatly facilitate the organization of a single queue, said Juhņēviča. People will be able to enter this system, choose a facility where they want to receive the vaccine and when they want to get it. The head of the bureau explained that this would allow people to choose the right time, thus making it easier to organize.

She pointed out that the lack of an IT solution was the reason why the vaccination process had encountered mistakes occasionally. Juhņēviča said that the IT system should be ready in the second half of April.
