Take note – story published 3 years ago

Assurances that the pace of Latvia's so-far-slow vaccination program rollout would increase have shown the first signs of coming good with 5,000 people vaccinated in a single day for the first time since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to figures from the National Health Service (NVD) March 23 saw 4,673 people receive a first dose of vaccine and 384 people receive a second dose, giving a total of 5,057 vaccines administered.

However the number is subject to updating as notifications of vaccination are delivered by various means. Health Minister Daniels Pavļuts drew attention to the figure, pointing out that it was double the figure from the day before.

Meanwhile the government marked the anniversary of its dedicated Covid-19 information website and hotline by providing some figures regarding usage. It said 1.46 million unique users have visited the single website covid19.gov.lv , which was created exactly a year ago.

The information hotlineline 8345 has been operating for the same period of time and has provided 108,340 consultations.

The average time spent on the website is 1 minute and 37 seconds. 75% of the site's users are from Latvia, but it is has also proved useful for those living abroad, with the United Kingdom, Germany, Finland, Sweden, the USA, Ukraine, and neighboring countries registering users. The majority (65%) of visits to the site were from mobile phones.
