What if I cannot make it on time for second vaccine shot?

Take note – story published 3 years and 3 months ago

What should I do if I cannot make it to my second vaccine dose on time due to work? Agnese Strazda, communication consultant for the Vaccination Project Bureau, answered the question on Latvian Radio April 23.

I am a long-distance driver, how can I get the Janssen vaccine which is only required once? I could also get vaccinated twice, but only with a three-month gap.

Agnese Strazda: The AstraZeneca vaccine has a period of 12 weeks between the first and second dose, so the person can safely be vaccinated with AstraZeneca, given that this vaccine allows the maximum period between the first and second doses.

If there is a situation that, indeed, because of work, this second dose cannot be obtained during the period specified in the conditions for the use of the vaccine, the population may contact by phone 8989 to further clarify the possible location where the Janssen vaccine may be obtained.

It is known that the Janssen vaccine, as a single-dose vaccine, could be used primarily for vaccination in people where it is very important to maximize its use due to limited accessibility. The Janssen vaccine is intended to be used in cases where it is not possible to reach the population so often and easily, for example, when administering the vaccine in people's homes or in prisons, shelters.
