The Order of Three Stars was awarded to heart surgeon Pēteris Stradiņš, former head of the Financial Intelligence Service Ilze Znotiņa, pianist Andrejs Osokins and musician Katrīna Gupalo, among others.
Organizers of civic initiatives who have provided assistance to Ukraine during the last year are particularly well represeted in the latest batch of awards.
Former Spanish ambassador Susana Margarita Cámara Angulo, and former Canadian Ambassador Kevin Michael Ernest Rex also feature on the honors list, as do a selection of medical professionals, educators, charity workers, entrepreneurs and long-serving members of the emergency services and military.
The award ceremony will be held on the 33rd anniversary of the restoration of the independence of the Republic of Latvia, on May 4, at 15.30 at Rīga Castle. It will be possible to watch the ceremony live on LTV1.
