Citizenship and Migration Affairs Office (PMLP) departments have introduced a new service as of Wednesday, July 19: a passport or an eID card can be ordered and formalities settled in one department, but the new document can be received at another branch, the PMLP announced.

"The most important priority for management is to provide customers with convenient and modern services. In light of customer feedback, as well as continued work on improving services to meet the customer requirements, a new service has been created – a passport or eID card can be made, for example, in Daugavpils, but you can choose to receive it in Department 1 of Rīga,” said PMLP Chief Executive Maira Roze.

The service will be available in all 29 PMLP departments, but it should be noted that it will not be possible to change the choice made.

It should also be noted that the branches of Sigulda, Smiltene, Līvāni, Krāslava will not be able to receive documents from other departments. However, if the customer forms the documents at these branches, it will be possible to select any of the 29 departments of management to receive them, PMLP said.

On the other hand, if the passport or the eID card is ordered at the Latvian Mission in a foreign state (embassy or consulate), the personal identification document will only be received at the office in which it is ordered. Personal identification documents in foreign states shall not be transferred to other Latvian missions.

The service of transfer within Latvia is free of charge.
