Charity concert raises EUR 7,000 for Ukrainian hospital

Nearly €7,000 has been raised at a charity concert by the association Your Friends. The money will be channeled to the military hospital in Ukraine for the purchase of X-ray equipment. This summer, the association organizes a concert series called “Hangar Sunsets”, where it calls for money and materials to be donated to Ukraine during four concerts.

Visitors and organizers of the event are united by the aim of helping Ukraine, because, as they point out, Ukrainians are also fighting for us: “To be present in this whole situation in Ukraine. I think it's important to us all, and not to be indifferent because it's [..] a disaster.”

“If we don't help, who will help? Everyone needs to start from themselves. Every now and then we try to donate on the phone and visit events, and donate things. Clothes," a visitor said.

According to the representatives of the association “Your Friends”, the activity of Latvian residents in donating comes in waves.

“As last year, the wave has also receded during the summer. It has been shrinking. But we feel the readiness of the population,” the representatives of the association “Your Friends” say.

Several hundred people had arrived at the concert on Tuesday, July 18, and together nearly €7,000 had been donated to a military hospital in Ukraine for the purchase of an X-ray machine. A further EUR 13 thousand is needed to purchase it, so the association still asks to donate both money and various belongings. Two more concerts will be held in the series – on August 8 and 29 at Ventspils Street 50, the hangar of the association Tavi Draugi.
