Memorial to Latvia's defenders pulled over in Bauska

A monument to Latvia's defenders against the second Soviet occupation has been toppled in Bauska, Latvian Television reported on March 27.

State Police have launched criminal proceedings for offenses against general safety and public order.

The monument was toppled on the night to Monday night using wire found nearby.

A member of the Bauska municipal council, historian Raitis Ābelnieks, told LTV that the monument would be restored in the near future.

State Police are asking for anyone with information about the incident to turn to the police.
