Electronic signature system to get an October update

Latvia's electronic signature system, eParaksts ('eSignature') will get a major update in October that will temporarily take it offline and will require users to set up new passwords, it was announced September 29.

"In order to ensure the security of services and improve their operation, as well as to fulfill the requirements of the eIDAS regulation and promote the development of eSignature services, on Saturday, October 21, we will perform the migration of eSignature systems to a new technological platform," said an official announcement.

Consequently, on Saturday, October 21 from 00.00, eSignature tools will be unavailable for approximately 24 hours during system migration. The eParaksts system will not work during this period, and nor will the eParaksts app.

Importantly, after the migration of the eParaksts system is complete, all mobile users will need to create a new eParaksts mobile password. This should only be done after the technical updating work is complete.

Users will be sent detailed instructions on how to change their eParaksts mobile password, plus reminders in the app if they have not renewed your eSignature password.

"The e-Identity and transaction confirmation function will not be affected. After the migration, you will be able to continue using it and you will not need to perform any additional actions," said the announcement.
