On Tuesday, November 3, the Cabinet of Ministers approved a decision to admit 44 persons, including 6 dependent minor children, to Latvian citizenship by naturalization.

Of the 38 adult applicants for citizenship, 68% are ethnic Russians, 10% Ukrainians, 13% Belarusians, with Lithuanians, Poles and others among their number.

In the coming days, new citizens will receive a notification by post from the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs (PMLP), which will contain information about the person's admission to citizenship, as well as provide the most important information about getting a passport.

The latest group to have become Latvian citizens through naturalization have confirmed their basic proficiency in the Latvian language, as well as successfully passed the examination of the basic provisions of the constitution, the text of the national anthem and knowledge of Latvian history.

In total, 147,768 persons have been admitted to Latvian citizenship by naturalization, including 600 persons so far in 2020.
