Take note – story published 4 years ago

The Latvian cabinet approved 60 more people for citizenship August 27, including three children who gained citizenship alongside their parents.

Of the 57 applicants 73% are of Russian ethnicity, 10% Ukrainian, and 7% Belarusian, with Lithuanian, Polish and other backgrounds also represented.

The new citizens had undergone the naturalization process to qualify for citizenship - bringing the total number of people to do so to 146,892 since it was introduced in 1995. So far this year, 532 people have naturalized as Latvian citizens. 930 did so last year.

As ever, congratulations to all!
