On Wednesday morning border guards inspected the Latvian-Russian border and saw signs of illegal border crossing.
"The search operation was organized immediately, and 24 Vietnamese citizens who had crossed the border illegally were held in Pasiene municipality," Petersone said.
A criminal procedure on illegal border crossing in a group has been launched. The trespassers were placed in the center for detained foreigners Daugavpils.
