The new series will replace the series of regional emblems and of flowers.
The first postage stamps have been issued with images of a cat, dog, chicken, and goose. Along with the new postage stamps, a special envelope has been issued in 800 copies.
The author of the design is Ģirts Grīva.

Each of the postage stamps shall have a different nominal value, with the cat coming cheapest and the goose having the highest value.
The postage stamps of the domestic animals series will initially be able to be purchased in Riga's 10th mail department, Elizabetes Street 14/43, Riga 50th department in Origo, Stacijas Square 2, the postal center Sakta on Brīvības Boulevard 32, as well as online.
