Air police ID Russian military transport plane

Take note – story published 8 years ago

NATO’s Baltic Air Police (BAP) jets identified a Russian air force Antonov AN-22 military transport plane flying near Latvia’s airspace on the edge of the international aviation corridor over the Baltic Sea Monday.

According to the latest National Armed Forces (NBS) tweet, the heavy and wide-bodied plane designed for large-scale airlifting missions was skirting along the margins of Latvia’s line over the Baltic, though remaining inside the neutral zone.

Exactly a week ago the same type of plane was also escorted above the fringe of Latvia’s sea territories by BAP pilots.
