Annual youth radio charity drive is open for donations

The main charity marathon will take place from 17 to 23 December, when donations can be made to a temporary glass studio being erected in historic Dome Square in the center of Rīga.

But as of December 4 donations can also be made at the ziedot.lv website and at dodpieci.lv homepage, you can request a song to be played for a minimum five euro donation - hence the name of the action, ''Gimme five''.

In previous years the charity drive has raised hundreds of thousands of euros for senior citizens, cancer patients and parents of children with special needs. The goal of this year, however, is to collect donations for the Plecs program, providing support to foster families ready to welcome children to their homes instead of leaving young people in institutions.
