KNAB has neither confirmed nor denied that the search was carried out.
In May, KNAB had paid the NMPD a visit to inspect an agreement that was made five years ago with the Rīgas sanitārā transporta autobāze company (The sanitary transport car park of Rīga). The visit had been communicated to the emergency services beforehand.
The contract between the NMPD and the car park for providing emergency assistance vehicles and drivers for the Rīga regional services ran out in April. The company had provided these services since 2010.
The matter of how the government will provide emergency assistance service with vehicles sparked fierce debates. The State Audit Service has announced that, by using this third party service, the government has spent an excess of €12m.
