An estimated 8,000 people took part in the Baltic Pride event in Rīga June 9.

Participants walked through the streets unmolested and enjoyed their festivities in the Vermanes park afterwards.

There was a small demonstration of a few dozen people against the event, led by a group somewhat confusingly waving anti-immigration banners, as well as some other placards expressing disapproval regarding the presumed sexual proclivities of Baltic Pride participants.

Police said they made one arrest, of a man who threw a firework that emitted a cloud of smoke. There was also a report of an egg being thrown by someone not best pleased by a musical performance towards the end of the Baltic Pride event.
