In October 2020, number of registered births (1 375) was 11.9 % less than in the respective month of the previous year. Number of deaths comprised 2 311 and that is 0.9 % more than in October a year ago.
In October, 884 marriages were registered, which is 10 marriages less than in the respective month of the previous year.
On 1 November 2020, provisional population of Latvia accounted for 1 million 897 thousand.
Number of births, deaths and marriages in ten months of 2020
In the ten months of this year 9.6 thousand marriages were registered in Latvia, which is 16 % less than in the respective period of 2019 (11.5 thousand).
From January to October 14.9 thousand births were registered, and that is or 5.8 % less than in the first ten months of 2019 (15.8 thousand). Until October of both this and last year 23 thousand deaths were registered.
Provisional indicators of the year 2020, which include data on births, deaths and marriages in breakdown by month, and final data of the year 2019, where monthly data are summarized based on the date of the actual event, were used in comparison of data with the corresponding period last year.
