Charity: Donations to Ukraine as frequent as in spring but smaller

Take note – story published 2 years ago

People's activity and willingness to help both Ukrainian and local residents has not decreased, said Rūta Dimanta, head of the organization Ziedot.lv, on Latvian Television September 28.

She said that the number of people who donate to the Ukrainian people was almost the same as in the spring. However, there has been a decrease in the amount that one person allocates to the purpose. Previously, people have donated to Ukraine in hundreds and thousands. "At the moment, the average is €10, €20, €30. There is obviously less money in people's wallets," said Dimanta.

Dimanta said that local residents still display jealousy toward Ukrainians for the help they get. "There is this jealousy factor. For those who complain that the local population must also be helped, please stop. It has not been stopped or banned," said Dimanta.

Local residents still have the highest needs for help with medicine and medical treatment, she said.
