“It's a place that unites people and belongings. Every one of us has something unnecessary at home, but it can be very useful for another,” said Eleonora Beržinska, the head of “Otrā elpa.”
The profits of charity stores are directed to the Children's Hospital Foundation and Children's Organ Donors program. Thus, everyone who has an unnecessary thing at home can donate it to those who need it most.
“They bring them to us. We sort things out. Part of the stuff goes to the stores so we can support financially our charity projects. Most are donated to organizations. We support various shelters, including animal shelters, social care houses, social services, and families with lower incomes,” Beržinska said.
This month the process of donation has been made more convenient.
Eleonora Beržinska said: "Everything has become a lot simpler in January. This campaign, along with Omniva, was inspired by our donors who call and write to us and are interested in bringing donations to us somewhere outside of Rīga or Liepāja. We currently have pickup points in Rīga and Liepāja, but there are no other regions."
Donations free of charge for “Otrā elpa” can be sent throughout the month of January via a network of Omniva parcel machines.
“Must enter the home page of Omniva under “Campaigns”. The necessary data must be filled in. “The mailing code will be sent to e-mail,” Beržinska explained.
The representative of Omniva, Jānis Andžāns, said: “You have prepared your donation, packed responsibly so that it does not fall apart. Come to the parcel machine. Press the “Send Shipment” button. Press “Shipment with pre-prepared address card”. Once you have pressed the button, you will need to enter the code that you have received in your e-mail. We have to choose the size of the locker. In my case, the box is big enough. I take the size of “L”. The locker opens. “Print an address card”. The label will be printed from the parcel machine, which we glue on the consignment.”
It will not be possible to send packets that are larger than the size of the locker and are heavier than 30 kilograms.
