While doctors first thought he may require the entire month to follow-up after the delicate and expensive procedure, Dāvis was pronounced fit for travel home this week. After a delay due to the snow- and ice-storm on the Atlantic coast, the boy and his mother returned to Rīga Wednesday.
Dāvis’ plight last month prompted a heartwarming fundraising campaign among Latvians wanting to help to boy, who formally couldn’t qualify for Health Ministry assistance because the operation was scheduled to take place in the US.
