Take note – story published 6 years and 1 month ago

The Cabinet of Ministers on October 23 supported raising salaries of judges by 35%, or to €2,695 per month.

Meanwhile, salaries of prosecutors will be raised to €2,641 per month.

These amendments will be submitted for urgent Saeima review.

The State Chancellery, which submitted the amendments, point out that the proposed salary reforms are aimed at ensuring competitive salaries for judges and prosecutors and motivating competent professionals in the sector to become judges and prosecutors. They are also aimed at keeping competent judges and prosecutors from leaving for the private sector.

If approved, the amendments will come into force on January 1, 2019.
