In order to help Ukrainian refugees find housing more easily in Latvia, the “I want to help refugees” movement have established the portal majasbegliem.lv, the organization said August 3.

Latvian residents are invited to post housing available to Ukrainian people for rent or for free. The portal also provides practical information on rental issues. The website is available in English, Ukrainian, Latvian, and Russian.

The movement's spokeswoman Linda Jākobsone said the portal enables homeowners to reach Ukrainian refugees directly, providing opportunities for safe communication between a potential tenant and a landowner.

The portal also provides information on available financial assistance for both tenants and people who offer housing free of charge, general information on rental of housing, a sample rental contract in Latvian and Ukrainian languages, as well as a practical guide for renting housing. The documents were also supported by the association “Asylum Safe Home”.

The portal initiative is funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the European Economic Area and a Norwegian grant program.

The portal was created by the “Deliverty” team, which was created during the “TechChill” #HackForce hakaton, and volunteers.
