Interactive map marks dangerous public-use buildings

The State Construction Management Bureau has created an interactive map showing public-use buildings in Latvia inspected by the bureau, as well as their security levels, Pēteris Druķis, the head of the bureau told Latvian Television on Wednesday.

The buildings are marked in three colors: green, yellow and red. Green means that the building is safe, while yellow shows some problems, but red means that you should not step into the building as it's dangerous.

"We have checked more than 1,000 objects during nine months. Most of them are in very good condition," said Druķis.

However, there's much, much more to do, as there are more than 10,000 public-use buildings in Latvia altogether.

Even though Druķis wasn't able to name the buildings that are marked as dangerous in Rīga, there are three objects marked 'red' in the capital - the Rīga Circus building on Merķeļa st., an administrative building at 11. Novembra krastmala, as well as the Latvian Business College building on Valdemāra st.
