Take note – story published 1 year ago

Residents of Jēkabpils who have been declared in the municipality, can receive a benefit in a crisis situation due to the flood experienced in mid-January, the local government told LETA on February 1.

An application to the social service for the receipt of a benefit in a crisis situation must be submitted within three months from the date of the occurrence of the crisis.

Disaster benefits are granted in the amount of up to two minimum monthly salaries, taking into account the damage caused. When assessing them at the place of residence, account will be taken of losses not related to the repair of the dwelling, as new binding rules are planned for this purpose. A decision on the granting of a benefit will only be taken after a visit to the place of residence.

In view of the minimum wage currently set, the municipality's population is eligible for benefits of up to EUR 1240.
