Know where your kids are late at night, police urge

Take note – story published 2 years and 3 months ago

Rīga municipal police often come across children and teenagers out on the streets very late, Artjoms Kalacs, representative of the Department of Child Offense Prevention of the Riga municipal police, told Latvian Radio July 26.

Officers notice children who are not provided with adequate care, as well as teenagers who have gone out of the house alone, then miss their transport back home or face other complications, he said.

In such cases, young people often do not know what to do and can become distressed. They can seek help from the police, stressed Kalacs.

He pointed out that parents and guardians should adopt a responsible attitude to the care of children. It is necessary to turn to the law enforcement officers for help immediately if a child goes missing, Kalacs said.
