Latvia has moved from 43rd to 40th place in the yearly Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) released Wednesday by Transparency International. Latvia didn't, however, improve its score in the index, reported LSM's Latvian-language service.

The CPI ranks countries in a rating from highly corrupt (0) to very clean (100). Latvia scored 55 points, the same as in 2014.

Estonia is ranked 23rd with a total of 70 points, while Lithuania is in 32nd place with 61 points. According to the report, the situation in both Estonia and Lithuania improved a little in 2015.

However, due to changes elsewhere, in 2015 Latvia has moved up three places, from 43 to 40. It shares the 40th place with Cape Verde, Costa Rica and Seychelles.

Denmark, Finland and Sweden are the least corrupt countries according to the index.
