On Thursday a man of Latvian nationality was arrested in Brussels for possession of 4 kilograms of cocaine. He was later released as the court couldn't provide an interpreter, reported RTL Info via Belga Friday.

The 20-year-old Latvian was stopped stepping off a flight from Dubai. At first an interpreter from the Latvian Embassy translated for the police, however she declined to provide further services after being refused payment.

Prosecutors have appealed the decision, but they still have to find an interpreter within fifteen days.

In 2015 there were about 1.75 million native Latvian speakers in the world.
