From December 4 to December 6 the National Guard will participate in the international exercise Orkaan 10, organized by the Estonian Defence League (Kaitseliit), BNS reported Friday.

A total of 178 Latvian National Guard will take part in the exercise. This year the Orkaan exercise, to which some 1,300 volunteers and soldiers are expected to flock, will be held in Parnu, Haademeste, Kabli, Eeametsa and in the Vaskraama area of Estonia.

"[..] This year the exercises will be held in an urban setting," said the head of the Parnu county regional unit of Kaitseliit, Lt. Col. Tonu Miil. "Taking into account what's happening in the world, it's very important for volunteers to learn to act in an urban setting and for people to get used to that."

The personnel to take part in the 10th Orkaan exercise are mainly members of the Kaitseliit units for Saaremaa, Parnu county and Laane county, of the all-professional Scouts Battalion and the Latvian Zemessardze volunteer corps. Aircraft will be provided by the Estonian air force.

In Late August Latvian and Estonian national guards staged a battle of retaking a town occupied by 'little green men', as part of the exercise Wenden 2015.
