Latvians donated over €100,000 daily to Ukraine all year

Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Latvia's citizens and businesses have donated 104 thousand euros to Ukraine on average each day, contributing a total of €38 million, the charity platform said on February 24.

Representatives of said that the Latvian society has shown high solidarity with Ukraine since the beginning of the broad invasion and has provided it with support in all areas needed – defense, humanitarian aid for civilians, the healthcare system, preservation of cultural values, aid for war refugees, and others.

In the first days of the war, citizens collected donations, volunteered at the border for the security of Ukrainian refugees, housed Ukrainian refugees in their homes, organized charity concerts, sunflower planting promotions, art exhibitions, and other support measures.

“The year in the war has also united the people of Latvia, allowing an agreement on the use of the official language in the education system and institutions, and the demolition of monuments glorifying occupation. The people of Latvia have shown their values and will continue to protect them in Latvia and Europe,” said the charity.
