Lots of leaves were collected in Rīga

Take note – story published 4 years ago

According to a press release from Rīga city council, 1,308.2 tonnes of leaves were collected from residents of the Latvian capital during a four-week period this fall.

We're not really sure this qualifies as news. More of a completely random fact with which you can dazzle your friends and family. Who knows, it may come in useful one day.

The leaves were taken to a biomass recycling plant.

It is the eighth consecutive year that the citizens of Rīga have been given the opportunity to hand over leaves. And here's the kicker: last year, just 968 tonnes of leaves were collected from the population during the project. That's right, this year, considerably more leaves were collected.
