The police discovered the creative alcohol dispensary in the Rīga neighborhood of Torņakalns - famous for decades as a haven of bohemian debauchery - acting on a tip-off about possible alcohol sales in the apartment of a 1963-born man.
After searching the apartment, police found no evidence of booze being sold or stored, however, looking in the attic, they came upon a 100-liter barrel filled with alcohol, which ran down to the man's apartment through pipes leading to a tap in his shower.
It seems that when clients arrived to the man's apartment, he simply turned on the tap from which, subsequently, the illicit liquor emerged to quench the thirst of the assembled dipsomaniacs..
The man faces a fine from €70 to €7,100.
