Of these, 18.7% were paid the minimum wage, or less. That is a decrease of 1.4% from the third quarter of 2016 when 20.1% of employees were working for the minimum wage or less.
According to the Statistical Bureau's data, 149,300 employees in Latvia were paid the minimum wage or less in the third quarter of this year.
In the meantime, 32.8% of employees were paid net wages of €450.01 to €700 (up from 30.9% in the third quarter of 2016), 20.8% were paid €700.01 to €1,400 (17.7% a year ago), and 2.7% - more than EUR 1,400 (2.5% a year ago).
Latvia will hike its minimum wage from €380 to €430 next year.
