New maps show language usage patterns

Latvia's Central Statistics Bureau (CSB) on Monday released a series of intriguing maps charting the nation's linguistic habits.

The maps, which are annotated in both Latvian and English, show the prevalence of languages spoken at the home and in public throughout the country.

Data is taken from the nationwide census of 2011.
