On its Facebook page Wednesday the VP posted its account of the arrests and seizures, complete with photographs of various whole and disassembled rifles, revolvers, pistols, pneumatic guns, grenades, silencers and gunpowder found over three separate hiding sites in Ropaži district and the Rīga neighborhoods of Bolderāja and Ķengarags.

Three retired men, one born in 1945 and two of them in 1951, respectively are being held under suspicion of collecting, restoring and trading in the weapons, some of which had been licensed, however under expired permits. They face up to three years of jail if found guilty of violating the Criminal Law against gathering and purveying illegal weapons.
The men are said to be well acquainted with each other and have been involved in the black market collecting and trade of armaments for quite some time. One of them is a former military man while the other two are reported to be jewelers by profession.
