Officers are seen racing to an incident at Ķišezers lake on February 25 in which a woman had been spotted by security cameras more than 500 meters from the shore, having apparently fallen into the waters where the ice was receding.
Rescuers were immediately sent to the scene, pulled the 50-year-old woman to safety and kept her warm until an ambulance crew could arrive to take her to hospital, likely saving her life in the process.
Police said the incident provided a reminder of the dangers of venturing onto frozen bodies of water and that even in places where this is allowed, people should never go more than 100 meters from the shore.
