Rīga Pride will return this summer June 13 to 19. To express solidarity and support for the LGBTQ+ community in Ukraine, Rīga Pride will cooperate with Kyiv Pride, said Kaspars Zālītis, co-chair of the event.

Events will include discussions, conferences, workshops, exhibitions and concerts, dedicated to the theme of freedom.

Pride Week will conclude with the main and central “Riga Pride” event on June 18, when “The Walk for Freedom” will bring thousands of people together on the central streets of Rīga, claiming the highest value – freedom. The walk  will end with a special festival concert “Together for Freedom!”.

Zālītis said that “Riga Pride” is the first pride in Europe that has openly announced cooperation with Kyiv pride.

"In this pride season, solidarity will come instead of enjoyment. Solidarity with those who are currently fighting for their freedom to exist and to be themselves. The LGBTQ community in Ukraine, shoulder to shoulder with its fellow citizens, is fighting for its freedom. We have to stand not only for ourselves this year but also for them. The right of every person to live in a safe environment and country," said Kristīne Gariņa, co-chair of Riga Pride.

Zālītis that while the pride focus is on the rights of LGBTQ people, it is now particularly important to speak of common values and to protect every member of our society, regardless of their sexual orientation, ethnic origin, sex, or other characteristics.
