Border guards have detained seven people for illegally entering Latvia over the last 24 hours, LETA was told at the State Border Guard.
While patrolling the Latvian-Russian border in the county of Brigi in Ludza region, border guards detained five citizens of Sri Lanka and two citizens of Pakistan without valid IDs.
A criminal probe has been launched over illegally crossing the state border in a group.
They have been placed in a foreigners' detention center in Daugavpils.
