Solidarity meeting for Ukraine to be held on Latvia-Lithuania border

In support of the sovereignty of Ukraine of the Ukrainian State, a protest rally on the border of Latvia-Lithuania will take place on Thursday at 16:00, Latvian Radio reported March 10.

The protest shall be organized by the Barricades Society in cooperation with the municipalities of Bauska and Pasvale.

The first President of the Latvian People's Front, Dainis  Īvāns, municipal leaders and many others, will attend the meeting. Former president Valdis Zatlers, former Deputy of the Supreme Council of Latvia Velta Čebotarenoka and former editor of the pro-independence newspaper “Atmoda”, Elita Veidemane, will also participate in the event.

The meeting will take place at the border of Lithuania on the motorway A7-Bauska-Lietuva, near the Baltic Road memorial mark, which is a symbolic acknowledgment of the strength of community and respect for human values, said Ojars Beķeris, representative of the Barricades Society.
