This is a stick-up - give me my pension!

Take note – story published 7 years ago

Riga Municipal Police said December 9 they had started criminal proceedings against a 91-year-old man who carried out a stick-up at a post office - in order to collect his pension.

According to the force's Facebook page, the geriatric Jesse James pulled a pistol at Sarkandaugava post office and menaced postal workers with it after being told the pension payment had already been transferred to his account.

"The pensioner replied that he didn't like that answer and said he had come well prepared to argue against it. At that point he reached into his shopping bag and pulled out a gun," the police said.

Postal workers immediately called the police who were quickly on the scene before the nonagenarian bandit could make good the world's slowest getaway via trolleybus, and found a pneumatic pistol in the veteran villain's bag.

The would-be Dillinger maintained he hadn't threatened anyone with the gun, but merely wanted to explain himself, police said.

He was arrested, but is now a shoo-in for a Latvian remake of aged reprobate movie Tough Guys.
