The recommendations for this weekend are in -- we hope you enjoy them.

Vinyl market at Kaņepes Culture Center

On Saturday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. the Kaņepes Culture Center in Riga is holding a vinyl market with Lithuanian guests and local sellers. Retro is the future.

Ethno+Jazz vol.4

The Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music is hosting its fourth event in the deciBels festival in which professional musicians cooperate to create something original for the festival - with ethno jazz being the theme this time around. It takes place at 6 p.m. on Saturday. Originality is guaranteed.

Jonathan Harvey and the Latvians

On Saturday at 7 p.m. the Lielā ģilde is hosting a performance of young Latvian composers and Jonathan Harvey.

"The music of the great British composer Jonathan Harvey unites light and beauty with the ability to convey sublime eternal notions. These themes are equally close to the young Latvian composers. Matīss Čudars' composition for electrical guitar and chamber orchestra is rousing and calming at the same time, reminding of the feelings one might experience in nature; in his turn, Krists Auznieks contemplates the transcendental and the temporal, reflecting upon the correspondences of Christianity and Buddhism," the organizers say.
