This autumn has been extraordinarily warm and sunny - plenty to do and discover, even if at the time of writing there is no telling exactly what will be allowed under a new state of emergency. Despite the overall uncertainty, here are some tips to enjoy the coming weekend.

Breaking Barriers online seminar

Rīga Stradiņš University Student Union is organizing a friendly international seminar “Breaking Barriers” for Latvian and international students (in English). Seminar will be held on ZOOM.

You can expect inspiring lectures and activities about yourself and the people around you, gain knowledge about cultural differences and personalities. The seminar will take place Saturday, November 7, starting 10:00.

Night Market Grand opening

On Saturday, November 7, a new market opens in Rīga, Aristīda Briāna Street 9A. This market will be open every Saturday night. Opening event takes place 17:00 - 21:00.

Farmers' produce, street food, hot drinks on the menu.

6th World Dictation in Latvian

In case you want to check your skills of Latvian language, listening and writing in particular, you may join thousands of others online for a dictation. November 7, at 12:00, on the site raksti.org, actress and speech expert Zane Daudziņa will read a 300-word text in Latvian which you can write down and, if desired, submit for checking. You may also write it just for fun and not submit.

This is the 6th time the public dictation takes place. Last year, over 2,000 people from all over the world took part.
