Friday was warm in Latvia

In several places in Latvia, Friday become the warmest March 1 since meteorological observations are carried out, according to information from the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center.

The warmest weather on Friday was in Rucava and Liepāja in South Kurzeme county, where temperatures reached 12.8 C, and in Rucava this is not only the record of March 1, but the entire first decade of March.

The heat record of this date has also been reached in Pāvilosta, Ventspils, Limbaži municipality Skulte, as well as Daugavpils.

The national March 1 heat record, however, remained unbeaten as it was 13.0 degrees at Mērsrags in 2021.

In Riga, temperatures reached 9.8 Cand previously warmer weather in the capital was in 1959, when temperatures rose to 12.7 C.

The coolest weather today was in Alūksne, where temperatures reached just 0.9 degrees.
