On social media, people complained on Sunday June 2 about Saturday's hailstorms that had uprooted gardens, flooded streets and brought other misfortunes.
In Rēzekne municipality, a poultry farm was struck by lightning, killing several ducks. In Puze, Ventspils municipality, rain washed out a road. The road is currently closed to traffic and repairs will start soon to restore traffic. The houses along this road can be reached by other roads.
The Latvian Centre for Environment, Geology and Meteorology had issued an orange alert for thunderstorms on Sunday, June 2. Thunderstorms died down in the first half of the night.
