Beware of ice next week as thaw sets in

Next week, temperatures will fluctuate around zero in Latvia, so pedestrians and drivers alike should beware of slipping on the ice that will often form, according to forecasts.

The weekend will still be frosty. The minimum temperature Saturday morning will be - 14 C to -9 C, warmer in Kurzeme. During the day temps will range between -9 C in northeast Vidzeme to - 2 C on the coast in Kurzeme.

Sunday will be a degree or two warmer but no thaw is expected. 

Some snowfall is expected. 

On Monday temperatures throughout Latvia will rise at -3 C to -1 C with some precipitation - wet snow, snow, and sleet.

Temperatures will fluctuate around zero all week so ice will form often. Icicles on rooftops will pose more hazards.
