Warmest April 9 in Latvia's history

This has become the warmest April 9 since weather observations are carried out in Latvia, and temperatures are still rising, according to information from the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center.

Until 14:00 on Tuesday the highest temperature was recorded in Jēkabpils, where it reached 23.2 degrees.

Previously, the highest air temperature on April 9 was in 2018, when it reached 22.8 degrees in Daugavpils.

Forecasts suggest temperatures in the south of the country will approach the 25-degree mark today.

If the air temperature reaches a full 25 degrees today, this one will become the earliest date in the spring when it happened. Until now, the heat of 25 degrees in Latvia was recorded on April 17, 1999.
