According to data compiled by the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center, during the first decade of July, the average air temperature in the country was 0.4 degrees below norma;.
Although in places in Kurzeme and Vidzeme, the amount of rainfall at the beginning of July exceeded the normal level, on average it was 17% below normal in the country. The largest drought continues in Latgale and Sēlija, as well as the eastern and northern parts of Vidzeme.
Drought and fire risk will intensify in the second half of this week, as only temporary rains are expected. According to current forecasts, more rainfall is possible on Sunday evening and on Monday.
The maximum air temperature will be +20 C to +27 C, but Sunday a potential +28 C to +33 C. Next week it will get cooler again.
The minimum air temperature at night will be within +10 C to +17 C.
